Coinbase is a website and app you can use to buy bitcoin. The business started in 2012.

Coinbase is the most popular US based cryptocurrency exchange.

Coinbase primary function is to work as an exchange. It facilitates swaping, buying and selling. After you sell your coins, you can transfer them to your bank account.

Some of the cons are, you can't pick a price to sell, you sell at the coins current price chart.

And that the fees are a little higher then exchanges. I guess you can say you pay for convenience.

One way to minimize the fees, is purchasing coinbase pro.

 You can also use it to store your coins. I wouldnt recommend it, since you do not hold the key to your wallet. This means if for any reason coinbase shuts down, you would lose your assets.

One of the great features about coinbase is there airdrops, Called coinbase earn.
To participate, you'll need to pass kyc and link your bank account.
(Kyc = know your costumer)

With coinbase earn, you enter a waitlist, and after a week or 2 the waiting period is over and you will be able to earn different crypto by watching a couple videos and answering a couple questions.

Once you earn the coins, you can withdraw straight to your bank account.

Now some cons. Being as simple as it is, it lacks many features, like:
